About
Genuine Film Review examines the craft of believability in film: the choices that make a setting, character or moment feel as though it could exist beyond the frame. It is for curious viewers who want to understand why a scene convinces, surprises or feels oddly false.
What we look at
We explore performance, setting, sound, continuity and screen conventions, always asking what a choice does for the viewer. A chipped mug, a pause before an answer or the noise beyond a window can carry more weight than a speech explaining how real a scene is.
A viewer's perspective
Our writing is close-looking criticism for general readers, not a scorecard or a test of technical knowledge. We distinguish what a film shows from what we infer, and leave room for different viewers to read the same moment differently.
Useful beyond one film
The aim is to give readers ideas they can carry into their next watch: what to notice in a performance, how a place contributes to a scene, or why a familiar convention can suddenly feel artificial. We do not claim that one style of realism is right for every story.
